2020 Projects

2020 Year in Review

The Covid-19 Pandemic has challenged each of us and our community in immeasurable ways while highlighting the Valley’s signature resilience and determination. This year there was comfort in the treasured annual events and new initiatives and, with your support, the Foundation was able to respond to the food access crisis here and into Grafton County.

2020 Grant Recipients

Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports

The Foundation provides scholarships for those with disabilities to enjoy all the recreational opportunities available in Waterville Valley. In 2011, WVF purchased seven new outriggers for the program.

Shakespeare in
the Valley

Shakespeare in the Valley has been brings professional theatrical productions of the Bard's classics to its popular "Theatre Under the Stars" stage each summer. The Waterville Valley Foundation sponsors the free "Sugarcoated Shakespeare" productions which are enjoyed by hundreds of families in Town Square on summer weekend mornings.

Winter 2020 Emergency Employee Meal Kitchen

Following the abrupt end to the 2019/2020 ski season, the Foundation partnered with the Waterville Valley Resort to create the Waterville Valley Employee Kitchen. The kitchen was open from March – June 2020 and was able to serve over 3,600 meals to the local community that was affected by job loss and food insecurity due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. The Employee Kitchen quickly became a critical source of support for the Waterville Valley community’s service industry employees.

The Rey Center Art Walk

Hosted by the Rey Cultural Center in partnership with the Town of Waterville Valley and sponsored by the Foundation, this annual event invites Artists to come together for an Open Air Exhibit in Town Square. During the month-long summer Exhibit, over 1,000 people were able to enjoy the 60+ pieces of work from regional and local Artists representing mediums of all kinds. Surrounded by mountains and flowing brooks the unique layout of Town Square offered two levels of Window Galleries providing open air viewing and space to respect social distancing. The Rey Center was joined by Shakespeare Under the Starts for the Opening Celebration.

The Campton Area Resource Center

In 2020, the Foundation was able to support the Campton Area Resource Center in two ways. The first was to continue the “Hancock Fund” a program aimed at providing supplemental funds for heat for those in the community. The second was a contribution to the general fund of the resource center for food pantry provisions.

Waterville Valley Foundation Presents:

In 2019, the Foundation established Movies on the Mountain showing movies in the base lodge and brining the community together for a fun night out. In 2020 with the arrival of the pandemic and warmer weather, the Foundation moved the series outdoors sponsoring several Drive-In features throughout the summer including Captain Marvel, Rocketman, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

Waterville Valley Elementary School PTA

This school year, in result of the pandemic, the Waterville Valley Elementary School student population grew by 350%. This severely challenged the approved budget set for a much smaller population of students. The Foundation, in collaboration with the school and the PTA, raised funds to offset the increased costs for student enrichment including additional technology supplies, an outdoor classroom setup, and musical instruments.
