One aspect of being part of a small, tightly-knit community is how profoundly we all feel the loss of one of our own. The Waterville Valley Foundation board of directors wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to Nancy and Mark Decoteau and family. No words can adequately express our sorrow, or our appreciation for all you do for our community and for all you have given.
We love you all and will be praying for you and the family. We know he is now with the Lord and we can always lean on that knowledge. There are no words that can express how sorry we are and we mourn with you. As always, we are here to help with anything you need. We love you guys. Bill and Linda
Marc’s heroism and contribution to the welfare and human rights becoming available to people he has never even met are vast. He sits with God and smiles on all of us. I cannot imagine the grief Marc’s family is feeling; I only know Marc through my daughter. I know she misses him greatly, and we all mourn with you.
We are so profoundly sad at the loss of Marc. He was a remarkable person. The world is a little less beautiful now without someone of his character, spirit and generosity in it. We are so glad to have known him and to have had the opportunity to watch him grow from an adolescent into a man of exceptional promise. He is (and always will be) deeply missed. We send our love to his amazing family, who raised such a good man. You have been in our thoughts and prayers.
Marc – It’s very difficult to grasp the concept that we will never see you again. So many of us have been fortunate enough to have known you, worked with you, gone to school with you, or been a friend of yours. We will never forget all of the laughter shared with you. Your personality is certainly one that will never be forgotten. You are an inspiration to everyone in Waterville Valley, for following your dream, and for sacrificing your life, to keep us at home safe. Words can’t describe how saddened we are by your death, but we are again, so very fortunate to have known you at all. Rest in peace, and we hope to one day see you in Heaven. Until then, watch over us, your family, and fellow soldiers. Take care. We love you, always and forever.
We join our community in grieving for the loss of an outstanding young man who gave his life in the service of our country. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Marc Paul; you will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about your loss, and the loss of another of America’s Heros. I’m sure he has not died in vain. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:16
My deepest sympathy and love go out to you and your family in your time of loss. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that all of us here in Farmington send our thoughts and prayers to you all. If I can do anything you know I am here for you. I love you. Joan
To the Decoteau Family & Friends……We did not know your son, or have ever met your family, but when we read the tragic story in our paper, we felt like we had to at least tell you how very sad we are for your loss. Thank you is not the right sentiment, but we express our sincere gratitude to your son for serving our country, fighting the war on terrorists, and keeping us safe. We are so truely, to the bottom of our souls sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family at this time, and rest assured, your son is in heaven. God Bless Decoteau Family

Marc & Nancy:
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your son. True heroes are the ones who selflessly make the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us to live in freedom. It’s so tragic that he was taken from us at such a young age. I will pray for him and all the other heroes who have left us far too soon.
Please accept my condolensces. Words are fairly useless right now and escape me. I just wanted you to know that my family and I are thinking of Marc and your Family. God Bless America.
Although I didn’t get to know Marc as well as all of his close friends did, I had the privilege of spending my summers up in the valley for the last 4 or 5 years and I became friendly with him. He was such a nice kid who was always ready for a game of pick up football or soccer on Packard’s field. When I heard that he was to join the army I was amazed at his courage, yet it didn’t surprise me because I knew how strong willed and determined he was. He was very dedicated and I knew he would succeed at anything. My thoughts and prayers are with the Decoteau family and I am truly thankful for Marc’s bravery and wholehearted service.
Our sincerest sympathy and sorrow. Marc was, and always will be, a true American hero. We are so ever grateful to him.
Love, compassion, warmth and appreciation are sent to you and your family.
Marc was the kind of young man that makes you square your shoulders and stand a little taller. He made me proud to be counted among his teachers and I am so very saddened by his death. When he visited PRHS in December his pride in serving his country was foremost. My heart and prayers go to his family, friends , and community.
Marc,
Our depest sympathy to you and your family. We have the most sincere respect for our heros. Pfc Marc Decoteau will be remembered in this office as a hero.

It is with my deepest sympathy for your loss of Marc. As a US Army Veteran and US Army Retired Soldier, I salute your son in full respect for the ultimate sacrifice he gave for serving his Country. My prayers are with the family and friends of this young soldier. May God watch over and protect all our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines, and US Coast Guard personnel that serve our great Nation. I believe Marc has joined all the other Guardian Angels to watch over others that are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our heart goes out to the family……you are in our thoughts.
Nancy and Mark: my prayers are with you and for you during this time. I am so very sorry for your loss. Nancy, you may remember me from BFA days, and also remember that I came to your wedding back in … well, a long time ago! I have never forgotten you, your love and your friendship. God bless you and keep you. Marie
Our hearts ache. Your dear son touched more people’s lives and hearts in 19 years than most people could ever do in a lifetime. Thank you for raising such an amazing young man, and thank you for sharing him with us. We embrace you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Praise God that Marc knew the Lord . It is comforting to know that we will see him again. We pray that the Lord will comfort you and keep you as you cope with your loss.
Marc will be greatly missed – a very special person, he is now with the Brave Ones – rest in eternal peace, we will all meet again in the house of the Lord…
I never dreamed it would be me
my name for all eternity
recorded here at this hallowed place
alas, my name, no more my face…
“In the line of duty” I hear them say;
my family now the price will pay
my folded flag stained with their tears;
we only had those few short years…
The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest;
my sword I pass to those behind
and pray they keep this thought in mind…
I never dreamed it would be me
and with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last….
